Meet The Team

The Goodman Sparks TeamGoodman Sparks prides itself on the people that make the company run, every member of staff working together makes us who we are and an effective team.  Below are a few members of our team who you may have contact with both in person and over the phone on a day to day basis.

Abigail - Abigail has worked for Goodman Sparks for 4 years now and will often be one of the first voices you hear when calling in.  As well as looking after our customers’ calls, Abigail also helps with accounts enquiries & issues. In her spare time, she plays netball and has recently rescued a retired greyhound called Betty.Abigail

Karen - When calling in if you are welcomed by a smiley sounding voice, chances are you are speaking with Karen. Karen has been with Goodman Sparks for 12 years and loves helping out our customers with any issues they may have.  When she isn’t working you will often find Karen socialising, taking part in pub quizzes and occasionally dancing on tables.Karen

Joanne - Every company needs an Oracle, and at Goodman Sparks that’s Joanne!  26 years after joining us, Joanne is still here, an expert in everything there is to know about our customers and commercial laundry equipment.  On the rare occasions that we let her leave the office she spends her time with her family and friends and is often behind an excuse to wear fancy dress.Joanne

Sam - Sam has the good fortune of being one our youngest and newest team members, having been with us for just over a year.  Sam works for our sales team and looks after the new and existing accounts North of Sheffield.  Sam loves music and plays football at the weekend; he is also a fan of travelling and is often planning a trip to an obscure city in Europe.

James - James has commercial laundry running through his veins as he is a grandson of Hazel Rowan, one of our founders.  James works for the sales team looking after Sheffield and the area South towards Leicestershire, as well as having to deal with our daily IT questions (have you tried turning it on and off?).  Being a father to three boys, his free time is not his own and his weekends revolve around kids football and caravan club rallies.

Nicky - After 8 years working in the commercial laundry industry, Nicky joined our sales team in 2016 and continues to look after our potential and existing customers in the North West.  You will normally find Nicky chatting or driving around visiting our customers.  In her spare time, you will still find Nicky chatting. but usually watching other people driving as she is a massive F1 fan.

Chris - For 29 years Chris has looked after all that is service related here at Goodman Sparks, originally starting as a fresh-faced engineer and for the last 8 years being our Service Manager.  He leads our team of engineers with a wealth of experience and knowledge.  Chris likes to work hard and play hard, competitive is his nature.  When he isn’t at work you will find him skiing, playing golf, fishing or walking his dog.

The Engineers - We have a fabulous team of commercial laundry engineers, that are located throughout Yorkshire, East Midlands and the North West.  Unfortunately, they are so widespread that we couldn’t get a photo of them all together!  On average they have over 14 years’ experience; our most recently qualified engineer has been with us for 4 years and we have recently taken on a new apprentice.

Jonathan - Our MD has grown up around commercial laundry equipment as Goodman Sparks was founded by his dad 50 years ago.  Jonathan has been running the family business for the last 9 years and can always be counted on for a bit of humour in the office. In his spare time he is an avid football fan, having supported Sheffield United since his first trip to Bramall Lane when he sat on his grandad’s knee. When he’s not watching the Blades, Jonathan’s either watching his two boys playing for their local teams or providing moral support to his daughter who is a qualified referee.

Sally - As our FD, we need Sally to do the legal stuff and most importantly to make sure we all get paid.  Sally joined us 5 years ago from a background in Finance and, being Jonathan’s wife, continues to make sure that Goodman Sparks really is a family business. Thankfully Sally also enjoys watching football, particularly supporting her boys on cold, wet, windy mornings and loves taking Muffin and Mango for long walks in the stunning peak district.

Mango & Muffin - Mango & Muffin are Jonathan & Sally’s dogs, and part of the team at Goodman Sparks.  They are experts at smelling lunch from the other end of the offices and are always available for a quick lunch-time fuss.
