So that’s the fitting taken care off, but what should you look for when choosing your commercial flooring, curtains or blinds?
Choosing Commercial Flooring
Depending on the size of your space, commercial flooring can be a huge investment. It will be down for several years, and will be one of the first things your customers or stakeholders notice about your environment, so it is important you choose something that won't look tired or tatty in a few years.
There are three options, usually, when it comes to commercial flooring: vinyl, carpet, or laminate.
Laminate is a stylish choice, and can be hardwearing. These days, laminate doesn’t have to be those cheap, shiny, light coloured boards that bend and bow. There are some really high quality engineered wood boards, which are hardwearing and look great too.
Plus, laminate is easy to clean and maintain, although it can be slippery when it is wet.
Vinyl is another great option, particularly for very large areas. The benefit of vinyl is that it is seriously hardwearing, and often slip proof too. What’s more, it comes in a range of colours and can suit any interior design.
Carpet is great for pubs, as it provides a cosy feeling and can withstand light spills without becoming a slip hazard. Ordinary domestic carpet isn’t suitable, however, as it wears away too quickly, can pile, and also isn’t resistant to spills. That is why it is best to choose a commercial carpet.
Before choosing a floor covering, you need to carefully asses what levels and types of traffic you are likely to experience, as well as what the trip or slip hazards are.
At Goodman Sparks Mastercare, we can supply and fit carpet for any size of area, from the smallest of toilet cubicles, to the largest of warehouses.
Choosing Commercial Blinds
Before choosing commercial blinds for your office, school, or care home you need to consider the requirements of your customers, residents, and/or staff.
For some environments, the privacy and comforts of the service users is of utmost importance. There is no point having blinds that let a lot of light in or give no privacy in a care home bedroom, for example. In other environments, protecting staff from the glare of the sun whilst letting in the light is the priority.
Here are Goodman Sparks Mastercare, we offer a wide range of venetian, roller, vertical and roman blinds, enabling you to choose the perfect fit and style.
We also have a large range of colours. Choosing the right colour is important, as you don’t want it to tie you to a particular colour scheme forever more, but also want the windows look stylish and well dressed.
Fire resistant blinds are a necessity, so all our blinds are fire retardant to BS standards.
What’s more, we make the blinds on site, so we can offer huge savings that suppliers cannot.
Choosing Commercial Curtains
There are various uses for commercial curtains, all of which affect the style and fabric of them.
For example, hospital cubicle curtains need to be reasonably lightweight but still offer a high level of privacy. They will probably be drawn manually, rather than on a cord or motorised, and will have poles suspended from ceilings
School hall curtains need to keep the light out and the heat in. They might be motorised, to save time in assemblies, or might be on a cord if the windows are particularly high. They are often on wall mounted poles.
Whatever the curtain and pole requirements, they certainly need to be flame retardant.
Whatever the requirements for your commercial curtains, you will want them to be good value, good quality, and properly installed.
Your chosen provider should be able to advise you on the types of curtains you require, and the most effective way to hang them.
